EVC Invitational Volleyball Tournament:

This page hilights the 2016 version (first) tournament that is being organized by Everest Volleyball Club(EVC) located in Cary, North Carolina.

A. General

1. This tournament will be by-invitational-- only invited teams are allowed to register

2. FIVB approved rules will be used for the tournament.

3.   Following are rules that will not or can not be enforced by local conditions

3a. Libero: No libero allowed in this tournament

3b. Height of the ceiling: FIVB required height of 12.5m can not be provided because local gym  constrains, however min height of 7m will be available

3c. Free zone: 10' free zone around the court will not be available all the times, however we will try to make every effort to provide as much free zone as                 possible

3d. Best of 3 sets play for league and semi finals round (since the FIVB dictates the league and semi does)

B. The Tournament

1. The tournament will be organized at the Memorial Day Weekend, 28 and 29th May, 2016

2. The tournament will be hosted at the Magnolia Gymnasium in Fred G. Bond Metropolitan Park, 801 High House Rd, Cary, NC 27513

3. Any team that has competed(or eligible) in ANMA/NASEA or ANA tournaments in the past years will be invited to participate.

4. Organizing committe is seeking at least 4 teams and at most 8 teams to run the tournament

5. External referees will officiate the games

C. Registration

1. Each prospective team that got formal invitation should register during the open registration period(March 17 - April 17, 2016)

2.Registration should include paying registration fees, providing team roster (name of the team, names of each players name and pictures preferable a social media page)

3. A team roster should include at least 6 and at most 12 players

4. During Registration, each team should also provide team Manager or Captain's email address and contact phone number for any further contact

5. Registration committee will review each team's registration and contact the team manager or captain if the registration is accepted or any issue that needs to be fixed

D. Late registration/withdrawl

1. If, for any reason a team can not participate after registration, then they are allwed to withdraw from the tournament, with written request after 7 days of the       deadline(from April 18-April 24)

2. If a team withdraws for the tournament within allowed duration, the team will be returned with 50% of the registration fees

3. If a team has missed the regular registration window and interested as late registration, then they can do so during withdrawl window(4/18-4/24). However they will be charged with late registration fees.

4. Once the registration period is over, the teams must participate or they will forefeit their registration fees.

E. Fees

1. Registration fees is $350/team

2. Late registration fees is $500/team

3. Registration fees are due at the time of registration.

4. We will send a prospective team an online registration site to pay for the entry fees and register their team

F. Format

1. The tournament will be run in 2 day format

2. All league games will be played in day #1 in round robin among all teams or the teams within a pool depending upon total # of participating teams

3. Semi finals and finals will be played in day #2

G. League games

1. League games will be played from 12:00pm to 5:00pm on Saturday, May 28 2016

2. Depending on he total participants, the league play will be divided into 1 pool or 2 pools(depending on the number of teams)

3. All league games will be played best of 3 to 25 points. If 3rd set is needed it will be played to 15. All sets must be won by 2 points, no max

4. The teams will be ranked based on total sets won(1 point). If there is a tie, then total point differential(point scored-point lost)/total sets played will be used for tie     breaker

H. Semi Finals

1. Semi finals will be played from 1:00pm to 2:00pm on Sunday May 29, 2016

2. If there are 2 pools in League play, then semi finals will be played with rank 1 pool A vs rank 2 pool B and rank 2 pool A and rank 1 pool B

3. If there is only one pool in League play, then semi finals will be played between rank 1 vs rank 4 and rank 2 vs rank 3

4. Both semi finals will be played best of 3 to 25 points. If 3rd set is needed then it will be played to 15 points. All sets are win by 2 points.

I.  Final

1. Final will be played from 2:30pm to 4:00pm on Sunday May 29, 2016

2. Final will be played best of 5 to 25 points beween winners of semi finals. If 5th set is needed it will be played to 15 points. All sets must be won by 2 points, no max

J. Prizes distribution

1. Prize distribution ceremony will start shortly after final is over

2. At least 50% of entry fees will be allocated on prizes. The actual amount will be declared before start of the tournament

3. Winner: A championship trophy and cash prize to the team, medals and certificate for individual players will be awarded to the winning team

4. Runner-up: Cash prize to the team, medals and certificate for individual players will be awarded to the runner up

5. MVP: Cash prize, MVP trophy and certificate will be awarded to the most valuable player of the tournament. MVP will be selected by organizing committed based on all the team captain's feedbacks

6. Participant: A certificate will be awarded to each participants
